About ECISD's Child Nutrition Services Department

Our Mission:

To contribute to the success of the East Central ISD and its students by offering and providing nutritious, well-balanced and quality meals in a healthy, friendly and welcome environment.

  • ECISD serves over 3,000 breakfasts, 6,000 lunches, and almost 600 after-school snacks every day. This adds up to around 1 million lunches and 540,000 thousand breakfast meals per year!
  • All enrolled ECISD students receive free meals under The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) - is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas.
  • We operate under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP) and the After-School Snack Program (ASCP)
  • We offer meals for our students from our food trailer during field trips and special events.
  • We offer fresh fruit and vegetable choices daily for all meals at all 11 campuses.
  • We offer extensive a la carte options at all grade levels.
  • We offer extensive internal catering options for students and staff outside of meal service times.
  • We have approximately 90 hard-working and skilled employees who prepare, bake, and cook the meals at each of our campuses daily.
  • Employees receive ongoing training on HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) food safety procedures.
  • Child Nutrition Services has dedicated employees who plan and analyze menus, train staff, ensure meal program compliance, oversee the Child Nutrition Program and promote good nutrition among students, staff, and community members.
